Launching the SIP Grants Program: Empowering Innovative Silviculture in BC
We have BIG news!
After much work behind the scenes, we are excited to launch the SIP grants program. Through our grants program, we aim to develop and support projects that advance innovative silviculture practices and approaches to forest management. Our goal is to overcome challenges that currently limit the application of innovative silviculture across BC through knowledge creation and knowledge sharing.
We are currently accepting applications for two grants: Innovation in Action and Capacity Building. The Innovation in Action grant is for operational projects that are shovel-ready (or near shovel-ready) and need extra resources to support additional activities that would serve to increase the application of innovative silviculture. It can fund projects up to $50,000. The Capacity Building grant is to support skill development in innovative silviculture or relationship building. It can fund applicants up to $15,000. Applications are due by November 1, 2024 at midnight (PT).
The two grants were guided by what we heard at the innovative silviculture Knowledge Summit (March 2023). In fact, the priority themes for the Innovation in Action grant are derived from the key knowledge and extension gaps that were identified during the workshop at the Knowledge Summit, which gathered an diverse and interdisciplinary group of practitioners, researchers, managers and silviculture experts from across BC.
For more information, you can attend a webinar that will be hosted on September 24 from 12:00PM-1:30PM (PT). Registration can be completed here.
