Description: This project led by Alkali Resource Management Ltd. aims to combine cultural practices with controlled fire techniques to improve the health of ecosystems, lower the risk of wildfires, and restore Indigenous food sovereignty. The project includes training for community members, controlled burns, and monitoring of ecological health. These activities are designed to boost biodiversity, create local job opportunities, and respect traditional ecological knowledge. By blending traditional ecological knowledge with modern forest management, the initiative aims to deepen understanding and use of controlled burns, helping forest workers learn from each other. It also encourages inclusive practices that promote biodiversity, strengthen community resilience, and ensure sustainable management of different forest resources in British Columbia.
